How to Clean the Eau Water FilterUpdated 19 minutes ago
Your Eau by TUSHY Smart Toilet comes with a built-in steel mesh filter inside the T-Adapter. This filter catches sediment from your water supply before it reaches the bidet and flush systems — keeping everything running smoothly and your spray strong. To maintain peak performance, TUSHY recommends cleaning it every 1–2 months.
Signs Your Filter Needs Cleaning
- Noticeably reduced bidet spray pressure
- Sputtering during wash (outside of the normal sputtering at maximum pressure)
- Error code E5-A on the display (no water reaching the product) after confirming the supply valve is open
- It's been more than 2 months since the last clean
- Note: The Eau uses a cleanable steel mesh filter, not a replaceable cartridge — no part to purchase, just a quick rinse every couple of months. The steps below cover how to remove, clean, and reinstall it.
What You'll Need
- Adjustable wrench
- Towels (for drips)
- Warm running water
- Soft brush (optional — for stubborn buildup)
Step-by-Step: Cleaning the Filter
Step 1: Shut everything down
- Turn the water supply valve clockwise to close it fully.
- Flush the toilet once to relieve water pressure in the lines.
- Unplug the Eau from the GFCI outlet.
Step 2: Disconnect the T-Adapter
- Locate the T-Adapter with Built-In Filter on your water supply valve (behind or beside the toilet base).

- Disconnect the Bidet Water Supply Hose from the top of the T-Adapter by turning counter-clockwise.
- Disconnect the Flush Water Supply Hose from the side connection of the T-Adapter by turning counter-clockwise.
- Unscrew the T-Adapter from the water supply valve.
Caution: Have a towel ready — some residual water will drip from the hoses and adapter when disconnected.
Step 3: Rinse the filter
- Hold the T-Adapter under warm, running water.
- Rinse both the top and side connection ports thoroughly to flush out sediment.
- If buildup is stubborn, use a soft brush to gently scrub the steel mesh screen inside the adapter.
- Rinse until the water running through it comes out clear.
⚠️ Caution: Do not use metal tools, bleach, or harsh chemicals to clean the filter — these will damage the mesh or the adapter body.
Step 4: Reinstall the T-Adapter
- Before reconnecting, confirm the black rubber gasket is seated inside the T-Adapter. A missing or displaced gasket will cause leaks.
- Screw the T-Adapter back onto the water supply valve — hand-tighten first, then snug with a wrench. Do not overtighten.
- Reconnect the Bidet Water Supply Hose to the top connection (clockwise) and the Flush Water Supply Hose to the side connection (clockwise). Hand-tighten both, then snug with a wrench.
Step 5: Turn everything back on and check for leaks
- Turn the water supply valve counter-clockwise to open it fully.
- Plug the Eau back into the GFCI outlet.
- Slowly turn the valve on and off once, then touch each hose connection to check for drips.
- Leave a towel under the connections and check back after an hour to confirm no slow leaks have developed.
⚠️ Warning: If leaks persist after reinstallation, turn off the water supply valve immediately and contact our team at [email protected].
How Often Should I Clean the Filter?
Every 1 to 2 months under normal conditions. If you're in a hard water area, or notice reduced spray pressure sooner, clean it more frequently. As part of your annual maintenance routine, inspect the T-Adapter and all hoses for cracks, rust, or signs of wear — if anything looks off, contact [email protected].
